Top 10 Reasons to migrate your domain email to Google Apps

For last few years, I had been managing my domains’ email addresses using outlook express or Mozilla Thunderbird. It’s really a very hectic task to manage all of them one by one for each domain. So, I decided to explore Google Apps to manage all my email addresses and contacts at one place right in my Gmail Account.
Other biggest reason which insisted me to try Google Apps is that I’ve been getting a ton of spam emails in my inbox at shafiq.pk. It’s a real pain to filter through it to retrieve the valuable information. I did enabled the spam filter provided by the web host and I’ve been generally careful with where I’ve posted the email so I’m not certain why or how I’m getting crushed with spam.
Google Apps is a Rich Internet Application (RIA) that hosts customized versions of Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, and Page Creator on your domain. The service is offered in both a free and premium versions.
I believe that there are more than 10 reasons to migrate your custom domain emails to Google Apps, but I am writing some of them.
- Your own branded email client just like Gmail.
- 100% uptime guaranteed by Google
- Long-term stability (Your emails will be in your inbox forever)
- You can use a CNAME to point mail.yourdomain.com to your new Gmail interface
- Your own personalized email addresses on your domains
- No more spam emails
- Full IMAP support
- Full SMTP support (no need for a separate outgoing server)
- SSL support on both incoming and outgoing mail
- No more worrying about keeping your mail server up
FYI: I’ve another post in my draft which will guide you how to move your domain email to Google Apps. So, stay tuned for that post.
