LinkDotNet Pre-Connection Customer Service Review

After disappointing from the PTCL broadband service I decided to terminate their DSL service and planned to subscribe the newest broadband player LinkDotNet.

I thought linkdotnet had a wondefull dsl service because it is backed by the Orascom Telecom Company but I was wrong. I had a very bad experience in subscribing their service. I have not tried their DSL servic yet so I cannot say anything about the quality of service.

Here I would like to share my personal experience with LinkDotNet.

I applied for 512 Kbps LinkDotNet DSL on 1st March, 2008 through their online web form. After submitting the form, the next message said that our sales person will contact you to fill the hard copy of same form in 2 business days but nobody bother to call me.

I called their UAN customer service number and CSR told me that we usually don’t care the online registrations so you have to goto nearest branch to subscribe the service. On 6th March, I applied for the service and paid Rs. 1050.00 at their main office in Babar Block New Garden Town branch. The Front Desk Officer informed me that the service will be activate in 7-10 days. I again called their customer support after 10 days and they said 10 days means “10 working days” so I have to wait until 20th March.

In the mean time an interesting thing happen which I would like to share with you. A person called on my cell number and asked me my office address. When I asked the reason he said that you have requested an online order for 512 Kbps DSL and I want to come for the collection of payment. I told him that I have already subscribed the service. Few days later another person called at my home phone and asked the same from my wife, she also told him that we have already subscribed and paid for it.

After 10 working days I went to their main office to inquire about the status of my LinkDotNet DSL, the guy informed me that there re some issues with the PORTS in Faisal TownTelephone Exchange and our engineers are working on it. Morover he informed the it will take two or three more days to complete the process.

Today is 26th March, I also called to the same guy in LinkDotNet’s office he said that every thing is installed except the phone line need to be split and it will be done on 27th.

This is one story about the newest DSL service provider but there are many others who are fed up with their pre-connection intrnet connection. Hammad Yousaf who is my colleague in Naseeb Networks told me that he has paid them on 26th Feb and still waiting for the service. They are giving the same lame excuses to everybody.

Questions which arises in my mind are:

  • Pre-Connection service is worst than PTCL, how about the QoS?
  • Will we get better customer service and quality of service in Pakistan?
  • If they don’t have enough infrastructure, why they are playing with the innocent people?
  • Why they are unable to install it in 20 days? do they ned one month or so…

Last but not the least I recommend you to make sure that they have enough ports in your exchnage before paying them.

1ST APRIL UPDATE: I went to their office to check the status as their UAN number was not reachable and IVR says “All operators are busy”

The FDO guy told me that the status in the system is not updated after 25th March and he also said that your connection will be activated tomorrow. Lets see what happen… I am sure nothing will happen as their team is the laziest team in the entire DSL world in the country.

3RD APRIL UPDATE: Today morning I again called their UAN 111-600-222 and a guy told me that their higher managment noticed my problem via my blog and my connection will be installed today. I didn’t beleive that it will be done today.

After few hours I received two calls from different people and they informed me that my phone line is ready for DSL connection and they want to come to my home for installation. I asked them that I am in office rite
now, just email me my login credentials and I will setup DSL router myself.

After an hour or so I received following email

Dear Mr. Shafeeq

Your login is 0425165394-shafiq and password is 0425165394.

If any further help is required while configuration please contact to below person.

It is 10:00PM and I am ready to configure the DSL router. I was surprised that my DSL is not syncing, ADSL light keeps blinking. You better know What it means.

I called their customer service and CSR told me that status of my DSL is still PENDING in their system. So the question is, where is their higher management and QoS? If the DSL is not active, why did they emailed and informed me that it’s active?

I am really frustrated.

4th APRIL UPDATE: Finally, Today I am connected with LinkDotNet DSL after exactly 30 days. The download speed seems good.

If services is like that for new subscriber then God knows how it will be future for complain. There is lack communication gap between higher official and CSR.Well Iam going for letter to Editor make them pay for they had done to all of us.

    I applied for Link dot net 1MB and got it installed in 3 days.
    I used PTCL as well but LDN is way better than PTCL. Download speed is splendid. Just make sure that ur line is fine.

    i have applied for LDN i got the modem courier pretty fast
    but am waiting when they will give me the connection.
    they say that i will get it in this week, but after watching what happened to u guys am doubtful.
    i have been using world call broadband it was awesome.
    i had used the 128kbps package and it was excellent for cs 1.6 gaming.
    my latency was like below 80.
    now i am switching to LDN 1mbps package i hope it is better.
    i am just worried abt the downloading speed.

    Dear friends, i have read your all comments and found you are all almost fed-up by LINKDOTNET.

    I am the same experience with them, After placing order via phone, they sent their payment collector and i paid the money.

    After almost 8-10 days, the Dsl was activated and i started getting pain from the 1st day.

    I got much pain due to Disconnection, fluctiation of speed and almost 8 times i called and talked with their reprasentative and everytime they reset the dsl setting and commented that you won't face this problem anymore, but after some time i faced the same problem.

    Finally while calling 9th time, I said to the lady-reprasentative that i have to talk with male-reprasentative but she kept asking the reason and when i told her that i wanna cool-myself ( MUJHEY KHOOD KO THAND DALNI HAI,AGAR KISI MALE SE BAAT KARWA DU GE TU TUMHAREY LEAY ACHA HOGA ) SHE UNDERSTOOD THE MEANING AND SAID THAT SHE IS TRING TO FIND-OUT SOMEBODY AVAILBLE.

    IN THE END, THE MALE REPRASENTATIVE ATTENDED THE PHONE CALL AND WHEN I SHOUTED AT HIM HE JUST KEPT SAYING SIR, SIR, SIR, NOTHING ELSE AS HE HAD NOTHING TO SAY !

    ANYWAYS, I AM ALSO NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE AND THE WAY THEY TALK !

    Finally i got LDN connection after a month. Its going Good. make sure that your phone line is 100% ok for DSL. Otherwise u ll get delays.
    Ask your line man to give you good Pairs and also fine wires from DB to your house.. Then DSL will surely Rock and work speedy.

    Hmm thank Coder. I must apply for MBL connection, but they dont offer free Router. So have to arrange myself. LDT are liers, they ll never give me Connection. I think few people above who praised LDN must be their CSR`s :)

    I agreed to Kamal 100%. If u have read my earlier post. I wana let u know that i still havent got DSL SYN working :( they are keep on leing every day. Their Tech member visits every day, still no signals of DSL. They are trying to prove that prob is in my line :) but every time their Broadband device shows that my line is 100 % correct and fine No distortion... They are bullshitters.
    I have given them deadline that i m gonna throw their Router in drain in one or two days if not connected :) So lets C what they do now, if they wana collect their router from outsite of give me connection :)

    Guys, LinkDotNet sucks.They are pathetic,lament and bullshit.I had immense problems with them from the beginning.Their CSR is a gang of liers.It took more than a month to get my connection,speed promised and charges for 1Mbps and delivered even less than 256kbps.My phone line remains out of service for 5 days due to their lineman's fault as he patched it to another customer's line.After 1 month of chaos and disconnects every now and then,i had to put their service to rest forever.They didn't even bother to payback my money and their stupid Revenue Manager called up asking for more money.I wish someone kick them in their ass.First,they won't give you service and then,they will take away your refundable money(for unused period).

    Don't ever make mistake of taking their service Net.They should be called "LinkGotDead" Rather than LinkDotNet.

    Non-stop non-sense is what they deliver in name of service.Don't get in their trap guys.Wateen is much better and worth to be used.

    Surprisingly i was just searching articles about LINK DOT NET on yahoo by just typing `` LINK Dotnet DSL service `` and i Found this link. I m totally agreed with Mr.Shafeeq. Unfortunately i m another victom of LINK DOtNet DSL packge :(( i applied connection on 19th of Feb and today is 7th March, still no service i have got yet. They make strange stories daily. I have been calling them since 1st and they make lame excuses. Interesting thing i m gonna share with all of you about their LIES. Today their tech guy came to my home to check settings and configure DSL Router ( which i had done myself ). He came and check my telephone cable on roof. HE checked DSL Spliter, he checked DSL Router, it was configured very well already. He Restarted it and did settings again. Then he proceed to check phone cables current etc :) but still there was constant Blink in ADSL light ( which i m experiencing it from three days ). He made a phone call to his office and told me that Some one has plugged out the jumper from EXCHANGE, after two hours it will be UP.
    He further suggested me not to turn off Router, as signals can comeup anytime within one or two hour. He came to me at 2pm. Not it 5.30Pm and still ADSL light is blinking with no signal :( and that guys has switchedoff his Cell so that i cant make any contact with him. Now they are saying Our engeneers are still working on your SYN issue and trying to resolve it. IT will be UP with in one or two working days.
    I said i was told that Signals will be UP within one hour bye ur TECH Agent. CSR girl said i m forwrding your request and issue to our Engeneer on urgent basis, u ll get signals Soon :)
    I m really frustrated, it really sucks big time. They have wasted more then 20 days. They didnt do anything in 20 days and kept on telling me about just a day or so, and now one hour two hours. I think our Exchange has no port availble and they are Keep on leing. Yes they delieverd Router with in 2 days from karachi. I m from Rawalpindi by the way.
    So guys u are not alone in this LDN Prey :) another one is there lolzzzz... Lets C why i ll able to use so Called 512Kbps pre-connection DSL service :)

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience about the broadband connection. I definitely agree with you on all points. I have used PTCL and LDN; but both sucks, their customer service is really pathetic. Now a days I am using Wateen Wimax which is working well and I am getting 110K download speed on 1Mbps connection
  • Before you get a DSL, check the distance between your installation address and the exchange which should not be more than 5 kilometers. If it is, then you are prone to have frequent problems with your broadband connection. In this case you would need to have a Reach Router which can give you some better performance but please do not use PTCL, they don't have a reach router.

    Secondly, those who want to use their own hardware can easily do so. There are no complex settings involved, just select PPPoE connection type (I have used PTCL only) and fill out your usename and password.

    Last but not the least, I would suggest you to refrain from PTCL broadband. Their support simply "does not exist" and it is a pathetic experience for me. I would be going soon to the exhange to get it disconnected!

    For discount seekers, LDN is also giving a 30% discount to students like PTCL on showing a valid student ID card.

    i used to get around 110 kB/s on my linkdotnet 1mb connection. For the last two weeks there seems to be a decline in quality like lower speed of 60-70 and lot of disconnects

    i didn't have issues with the set up. they pretty much came with in 10 days. but its the service. I hate the speed of linkdotnet. i subscribed for 1 mb and i'm getting speeds of around 20-30 kps. i mean people get more out of 256 kp package!! I called their help line 20 times already but they just can't help, or don't want to help. they say that my speed will upgrade in 3 hours and its the same as it is every time. the collection centres tell me to call the help line again. really disappointed with the speed.

    I am using LinkdotNet 1 MB connection from 4 moths and you can timagine i never ever faces any problem.

    we can give some margin to ISp because currently no isp is 100 % best as itseld isp' commited for their services.

    After reading through this blog in its entirety, i was reluctant to get Link.Net DSL service. But , i have decided to give it a shot now. I already have Wateen’s Wimax package but Wateen is pathetic. They have 10Gigs cap limit which makes life miserable.They charge 500Rs per 1GB additional data which is way outside norm.The worst part is their customer service.One day , i called them, they told me they charge 200rs per 1GB, the other day, they told me they charge 500rs per 1GB. They have no Online portal where customer can view his download status and they are simply reluctant to offer package to existing customers for unlimited internet.

    They are behaving like ‘ pathar pe lakeer ‘ mindset. I told them i need to upgrade to unlimited package and response was pathetic. They told me i will have to buy another package with another CPE as there is no upgrade option possible. Superb pathetic strategy i would say!

    To cut long story to short, after wateen’s miserable experience, i am giving link.net a try. Today i have applied for connection and i hope things go smoothly.Meanwhile, can you guys share Link.Net management email address here, so that i can shoot them an email if things go wrong.

    LDN SUX big time.

    I've shifted to MAX and thank goodness for it.... FINALLY there is a God out there who listened and send those guys along... best customer service ever and damn! good speeds. On my 512, i get between 40-55 KB which is aweseome....

    We ll i guess now LinkdotNet has started offering good services. They are making good changes. they follow thier clients and help them out. They were quite poor while they installed my connection but now atleast they help you when you call them. they are not like PTCL who never listen.

    This is Usman Khawaja from Sialkot-Pakistan and I am using broadband DSL connection – 1Mbps of Link Dot Net. I had a very poor experience of Link Dot Net’s DSL connection. Currently they are suffering by “recurrent internet disconnection and speed issues”. Now one month has passed but the issues still persist. So I will recommend everyone not to buy pain of using LinkDotNet.

    Few ppl r talking about mobilink will u share ur knowledge what it is/ which tech they r using? (DSL , Broadband, ....)

    I can't test dsl speed can anyone tell me how fast speed dsl or broadband has. what about compression? At this time i have dialup which is suck. I set hours and days but nothing get.

  • @evernewsms You can purchase your own DSL router from Hafiz Center and prices starts from 2000 to onward depending upon the brand and router type.

    I recently bought TP-LINK ADSL2 Wireless Router for rs.3000 and it is working fine with linkDotNet

  • At last my colleague Hammad Yousaf canceled the LDN order after 55 days of the application and payment. He tried his level best to communicate with linkdotnet officials but they are still saying that it will be installed in few days.

    Mobilink Mobile Network also suxs so does their LinkDotNet DSL.

    I have used Mobilink SIM & i threw away its SIM in Drain because of its Bad Service,No Call getting in & out,They charge too much for everything.

    Same goes for their DSL bad Service & Lying Promises, Never install on time & not even give full required dsl speen as mentioned in thr LDN packages.

    Lesson NEVER USE A MOBILINK PRODUCT OR SERVICE

    Well.... i also agree to Aasim. I have no issues with LDN at all. They are doing great. I was using PTCL in the start but really their service was pathetic. LDN guys have much better attitude, customer dealing and after sales support services.

    i really like the way they are projecting and adding to the image of ORASCOM Telecom in Pakistan. I think Mobilink and LINKdotNET are the best ventures of Orascom Telecom in Pakitan.

    And i think we should be a little positive that atleast after long wait we have got some good broadband service in the town. Atleast far better than other operators.

    Hi Guys,

    LINKdotNET guy collected payment from my home on March 28 and committed that the installation will be done in ten days time. I dont know what happened to your connections but my experience is really amazing. They delivered me the CPE on 5th day and my connection started working two days back i.e on 6th April just after 7 days which also include holidays.

    LINK DSL is really giving awesome service level with blazing speed and one ring customer support. Really i am feeling on the top of the world and seems that this is the speed and support level i have been looking for since ages.

    Why dont you guys contact their management directly. I know few guys there and can be of some help to you all as well :)

    Recieved a call from my home that some one is asking for Linkdotnet payment, Payment was made and i was instructed that modem will be recieved in 3-4 days which surprisingly was delivered in 2 working days.

    Called each day to listen to a new story about day the DSL will be installed. Every agents claims that process is about to finish "I CAN SEE IT ON SYSTEM" DSL will in installed in 2 working days. No senior is available as its not our policy.

    UAN claims, there is a problem at Linkdotnet. Your connection will take 14-20 more days. No senior is available as its not our policy. If you don't want a connection you need to apply for return of money which will take 20-30 days.

  • Shafiq you are right i used to use DSL from WOL which is now linkDotNet and had a horrible experience from DSL, all you have mentioned is the process of getting DSL just prey it works fine after installation cause that is when the real service standards come ahead and i had real issues after the installation of DSL from WOL.
  • I was part of the team that finalized the processes for the installation, termination, upgrade etc. of LDN's DSL service. Our aim was to reduce the roughly 10 days installation time that we usually took at Dancom and we managed to simplify the process and cut down the time to within a week.

    However, I guess there's a huge difference between planning and implementation. I hope they get their act together and raise the bar a little. Currently, they seem to have the worst service around.

    Well, as far as their Pre-connection service goes, there is no doubt that LDN guys are LAZY...in fact, very lazy. I applied for a connection on 6th march and got it installed at my home on 31st of march. I have doubts about their QoS.
  • Hmm, ive been using MBL for the last 2.5 yrs now.. and have forund their support to be one of the finest wrt response to problems etc... (and they do check their e-mails/trouble tickets quite often ;) )

    After reading ur post, it only feels like the end benifit of all these dsl services is the Drastic price cutdowns we seeing these days.. ive gone from 999 for 256kb/1GB to 1199 for 512/Unlimited ... all in 2.5 yrs!
