Users can Update Their Facebook Status Through Yahoo Mail.

A great news for Yahoo Users. Now they can update their Facebook status via Yahoo Mail. As you all know that Yahoo is making special arrangements to fulfill the requirements of their social media. That’s why they have made an agreement with Facebook to provide their users a lot more facilities.

Last month, Yahoo started with its first Yahoo Mail/Facebook integration i.e importing Facebook friends’ e-mail addresses into their Yahoo contacts. Yesterday they added two new features to make Yahoo Mail a lot more socially effective.

The first feature they added is very simple but effective that is “the ability to update your Facebook status via Yahoo Mail”. When Once you log in with your Facebook account, you can simply choose to share your status updates via Facebook, in addition to your Yahoo network. It’s a simple status update box that appears in your inbox. The second feature they added is also very cool that is “whenever someone emails you that will also become your Facebook friend” and their profile picture will appear in the email.

MSNBC Joined Facebook For Its BreakingNews

In November, 2009 MSNBC gained the Twitter account for Breaking news which was managed by Michael van Poppel and it slowly grew to 1.4 Million Followers (now it’s up to more than 1.6 Million). After one month of this acquirement, MSNBC declared that they had purchased BreakingNews.com, which has become its web portal for online news and yesterday it completed its bet. MSNBC has launched a breakingnews Page at Facebook.

Facebook.com/breakingnews.

According to MSNBC spokesperson Gina Stikes he says that the new facebook account will only send biggest stories to break. The page has only 645 fans but we hope it will increase rapidly in future.

Simplify Your Online Indentities with Firefox Account Manager

A good news for Mozila Firefox users. What do you do first when you run internet? Usually, you log in into various sites that need a username and password for example Facebook, Gmail, Twitter etc. I think it’s really very boring. Mozilla Firefox has made special arrangements to get rid of this issue, they introduced a new Firefox Plugin that is known as Account Manager. Presently it does not have to do much more, it only identifies that you have logged in into a website and shows an icon that says yes that you are infact logged up under that username. In future Mozilla has strong desire for online identity management system from within a browser.

Currently Available Account Manager is an early experimental version and it works with Yahoo!, Facebook, Google and some Mozilla’s sites that need log in for example Bugzilla. We expect that in the near future we’ll see more features that really make us enable to switch between different user accounts and sharing content on various social networks easily.

Khosla Ventures Invested $12Million in Hunch

Khosla Ventures have Invested $ 12 Million in Hunch which is known as “Recommendation Engine” followed by partner Gideon Yu, who became the part of Khosla Ventures last year which was formerly Facebook’s CFO. Now he is joining Hunch as a board of directors, which is a part of the deal. Presently Hunch’s Value is around $52 Million.

Caterina Fake the co-founder of Hunch told about the Hunch. Fake says that Hunch, which is a new company and is not more than a year old, now has huge data to work with in making recommendations. she says, users have replied almost 50 million questions on Hunch since its launch, and the company is using the data to make better and better recommendations.

Facebook Launching Location Features Next Month

A big news for social networking lovers, According to the New York Times Bits blog, Facebook will officially declare geolocation features at its annual f8 developers conference in late April. According to Bits, Facebook will not only allow users to append location information to their status updates but also provide a set of APIs so that developers can allow location information to be shared with the social networking platforms.

In preparation for the introduction, Facebook updated its privacy policy last November. The new policy states: “When you share your location with others or add a location to something you post, we treat that like any other content you post.”

With over 400 million users, Facebook has the potential to turn the location-based application industry upwards down. Facebook’s 100 million active mobile users are perhaps even more important. But the company says it won’t attempt to compete with the Foursquare’s and Gowalla’s of the world, but rather try to take on Google in the local small business advertising niche. How that’ll work remains to be seen.

Twitter has also apparently rolled out geolocation capabilities on its website today though it’s been available from mobile phones and via its APIs.

Bingo! The most famous social networking site now has something for everyone! It has crossed all the language boundaries and has stepped into the domain of Persians!

People around the world have progressively been sharing news and information on Facebook about the results and its aftermath of the elections held in Iran. This shows that the interest in politics is also one of the activities that are carried on most social networking sites.

Much of the content created and shared has been in Persian which is the resident language of Iran. This has made life simpler and browsing easier for all our Iranian friends who used to find surfing harder in English.

However during the start the entire site is available in a beta version of Persian, so Persian speakers inside of Iran and around the world can begin using it in their local language and can keep their hands on. It is heard that after the usage of a short time the original and final versions will also be launched for colossal use.

Okay.. so now a few guidelines and introductory steps as to how one can avail this facility.

If your browser is automatically set to the language Persian, The Persian version of Facebook will be available to you and you need not to change any settings.

If you’d like to change your language into Persian, click on the “Settings” link in the upper-right corner of any page and then go to the “Language” tab. You then can select the language you want from the drop-down menu available there.

One screen of the Persian version is displayed below. By looking at this you all must have an idea what Facebook in Persian looks like.

Compete: Facebook Traffic Nearing Google and Yahoo

Facebook user base is exponentially growing. For the month of May, Compete (www.compete.com), a web analytics company, produced data that shows the number of people visiting facebook from US has tremendously increased to 82.9 million. On top of it, 65 million unique visitors were generated by services or websites running on a platform which is known as Facebook Connect. This brings the total to 113 million facebook user visits from US alone. The traffic on MySpace is on the decline and surprisingly the growth of twitter has come to a halt.

Not only is facebook leading the marathon of social networks, internet giants such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo! who earlier competed among themselves have now got a new entrant staring them in the face to break their competition triad existing for so many years. Facebook in just 3 years has gotten to the level that took others approximately a decade to reach.

Though it seems unfair to compare facebook with the other web giants as they all are aimed at different goals and groups of users but there is no denying to the pervasive influence of facebook in our routine lives. People are already relying more on it to use it as a communication medium than any other tool. The surge in the popularity of the facebook has resulted in it being an ultimate destination for social networking.

Facebook raised a lot venture capital. In fact, the amount of money it raised is greater than the funding got by any of the popular social and professional networking sites. The current valuation of facebook stands at $16 billion. There is a generally held belief that facebook, though, has a large number of registered users, but the high-value users from Japan, UK and US registered with facebook are still not more than other social networking services such as MySpace; meaning MySpace even today is more valuable than facebook. As mentioned earlier, facebook is reported to have received 113 million unique visits which means it has already taken the lead on MSN and is swiftly approaching the next two.

Those days are not too far when facebook will become the ultimate choice of people who want to socialize, bond and network. No wonder this facebook is well on a path to become a household service!
