After disappointing from the PTCL broadband service I decided to terminate their DSL service and planned to subscribe the newest broadband player LinkDotNet.
I thought linkdotnet had a wondefull dsl service because it is backed by the Orascom Telecom Company but I was wrong. I had a very bad experience in subscribing their service. I have not tried their DSL servic yet so I cannot say anything about the quality of service.
Here I would like to share my personal experience with LinkDotNet.
I applied for 512 Kbps LinkDotNet DSL on 1st March, 2008 through their online web form. After submitting the form, the next message said that our sales person will contact you to fill the hard copy of same form in 2 business days but nobody bother to call me. [More]

Dawn News TV is Pakistan’s first English news channel backed by Pakistan’s leading newspaper covering National and International news and broadcasting exact and accurate information about what’s happening around us.
Although their viewership is limited but the channel has made his place among the other popular news channel like Geo News and ARY One World.
I think it is a great effort to keep the National and International community in continuous touch round the clock and it will surely prove Pakistan’s Identity and a clears the difference in the field of Journalism by exploring truth and reality in the civil society.
You can Watch Dawn News if you have good internet connection and Winamp or Windows Media player installed.

So much has been written about the broadband internet services in Pakistan. As we all know that as competition increases, the quality of service increases and keeps costs manageable. So, this is the time to get some quality service from the top DSL providers; as the competition race has begun. Few days ago, PTCL which is the biggest broadband player in the market lowered its prices for their DSL service. Infact they didn’t lowered the prices but they raises the Speed and removed the monthly bandwidth download limit cap from all DSL packages. PTCL’s competitor LinkDotNet, which is the newest broadband service provider in the market also revised their packages accordingly.

Today I found an interesting website to broadcast yourself straight from your handheld mobile device and thought I should share it with you.
When We talk about live video streaming the first thing that comes to our mind is ustream but that broadcast your live video stream using webcam and a better internet connection. USream is a great service but it is not convenient in terms of mobility because it require you to carry your laptop and webcam along with a better wireless internet connection; which is not definitely not a suitable solution. With the help of QIK, you can stream your live video from your hanphone.
To broadcast your live video, you only need two things:
- A mobile phone that supports video recording. For more details on supported mobiles by QIK, please visit signup page.
- 3G/Edge/GPRS/WiFi connection
For more details please visit www.qik.com and create your account.

With the passage of time Internet business and its usage is growing in Pakistan. There are lot of companies which are providing broadband internet access but unfortunately they don’t care about the customer service and reliable service. After the successful launch of ptcl broadband internet service nationwide, another company LinkDotNet recently launched their internet services in major cities of Pakistan. As a consumer I think this is a great news for us. The more competitors means greater consumers’ bargaining powers.
LINKdotNet is backed by Orascom Telecom, the largest telecommunications service provider in Pakistan known as Mobilink. LinkDotNet has indeed acquired both Dancom and WOL. They have to face a very tough competition from PTCL because PTCL has already taken a large chunk of market share.
As all of you may know about the miserable customer service of PTCL, If PTCL keeps up with this level of customer care and support, there’s no doubt that they will be out from this market soon. I know many people who opted out from PTCL’s DSL due to their bad customer service.
LinkDotNet should provide better customer service and reliable internet service in order to get their stake in the market. I checked out their tariff plans on their site and those seems interesting.

I have also heard from some sources that LinkDotNet is also planning to launch WiMax in major cities of Pakistan. Lets hope for the best and welcome another WiMax Service Provider.

For last few years, I had been managing my domains’ email addresses using outlook express or Mozilla Thunderbird. It’s really a very hectic task to manage all of them one by one for each domain. So, I decided to explore Google Apps to manage all my email addresses and contacts at one place right in my Gmail Account. [More]

Funding demonstrates strong investor confidence in Naseeb’s vision, technology and market traction
Naseeb Networks, a leading provider of online social networking, recruitment, classifieds and related services in Pakistan, today announced that it has secured Series B financing from two pre-eminent Silicon Valley venture capital firms, Planet Ventures (ePlanet) and Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ). Naseeb will use the funding to accelerate its growth and leadership position in target markets by investing in sales force and marketing expansion and enhancing its product portfolio.
“We have seen strong growth in user metrics and financial receipts across our portfolio of online services,” said Monis Rahman, Founder and CEO of Naseeb Networks. “This funding round provides growth capital and domain expertise from two clear leaders in global venture capital, which will enable us to further dominate our target markets and seize emerging market opportunities.”
I think this is the biggest achievement for Naseeb Networks, especially because they have executed well and attracted foreign investors into Pakistan at the worst possible time in the country’s political history. I am extremely proud of working in Naseeb Networks
More details can be found on the company’s official website http://www.naseebnetworks.com/press.html

In the start of 2008, Google penalized and dropped my site from the SERP. My site was found nowhere in Google search engine. I was not sure about the penality because it is almost impossible to determine whether or not your site does have a penalty. So, I decided to do some research work before taking some serious steps towards the reconsideration or reinclusion request. After spending some time on research I found the following possibilities which causes the penalty.
- Lot of outgoing links without rel=nofollw
- XHTML code was not upto standards
- Some missing urls (404 not found)
- Linking to bad neighborhoods in blogroll
I posted my problem to Google’s official webmaster group and got some very good advices. searchenginepenalties also helped me a lot to find the possible reasons about penalties.
I fixed all the mentioned problems and sent reconsideration request to google on 5th Jan, 2008 and acknowledged that my site is no longer violating Google’s quality guidelines & agreed that I will abide by all the quality guidelines.
I am very glad that they accepted my apologies and reconsider my site to SERP. You can see the effect in the stats graph.
Many Thanks to Google Team.
