I had been using Mobilink Blackberry services for last two years and paying to Mobilink for the BIS (Blackberry Internet Services) for just push email since the blockage of Facebook by the Lahore High Court due to blasphemous page on Facebook. So, I decided to unsubscribe from the blackberry services to save some money and activated GPRS. I am now using GPRS/Edge on my Blackberry Curve and enjoying all the services

Mobilink GPRS Settings for Your BlackBerry

Goto Setup -> Advanced Options -> TCP

Add the following details

APN: connect.mobilinkworld.com
User: mobilink
Password: mobilink

restart your blackberry mobile and enjoy the browsing services. I experienced the following applications run smoothly: Gmail, Google Sync, Google Latutude, Web Browsing. Facebook and GTalk simply don’t work on my blackberry curve.

Are you paying for BIS (blackberry internet services) to Mobilink and getting just push email and blackberry messenger? If yes, you should immediately turn off the blackberry services and shift to GPRS or Edge data services offered by Mobilink.

We already covered the WiMax Service provided by the Wateen Telecom last year and reviewed about their quality of service and their package details. Everybody knows that Mobilink is the Pakistan’s largest GSM provider and serving more than 30 mollion subscribers all over the Pakistan. Infact this is great news that Paksitan’s telecom comapnies are investing in broadband voice and data services and they can play a vital role to gear up the economy.

Mobilink Infinity and Waten Wimax are direct competitors in the broadband business and we should expect some improvements in their quality of service due to the fact that whenever competition increases, the quality of service also increases and keeps price manageable. Mobilink Infinity is initialy launched in metropolitan city Karachi and will be expanded to other cities like Lahore and Islamabad.

Motorola-based 802.16e-2005 wimax network will enable mobilink to further enhance their current service offerings to high speed internet and voip services for business and residential users.

I am desparately waiting for their service in Lahore, can anybody write about their launch in Lahore?
